1. A control device for a synchronous motor comprising:
a processor configured to:
generate a command for passing direct current in a fixed current phase through the synchronous motor and control magnitude of the direct current in such a way as to apply, during execution of a direct current excitation operation by the direct current, deceleration torque to a rotor of the synchronous motor, based on at least either of angular acceleration and angular velocity of the rotor; and
acquire, as information representing a magnetic pole position, an angular position of the rotor based on an output signal of a position detector in the synchronous motor when a predetermined detection ending condition is satisfied.
