1. A negative electrode for use in a fluoride ion secondary battery using fluoride ions as carriers,
the negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material comprising zirconium fluoride and metallic zirconium,
wherein the zirconium fluoride has an average particle size of 100 nm or less,
the metallic zirconium has an average particle size of 2 μm or more and 75 μm or less, and
the negative electrode for use in a fluoride ion secondary battery has a zirconium fluoride content of less than 50% by mass and a metallic zirconium content of 8% by mass or less.
