1. A LIDAR system comprising:
a transmitting path including:
an emission unit configured for emitting an optical signal that illuminates at least part of a field of view (FoV); and
magnification optics configured with an image point distribution function that is non-linear relative to a vertical field angle of object points in the FoV, wherein the magnification optics is configured to non-uniformly distribute the optical signal at non-uniformly spaced vertical angles in a vertical direction between horizon and ground, in accordance with the image point distribution function.
