1. A modular securement device for securing a bicycle to a vehicle, the bicycle having a crank arm and a pedal coupled to the crank arm, and the device comprising:
a crank receiver having a crank cavity and a vertical groove, wherein the crank cavity is configured to receive the crank arm of the bicycle so that the crank arm is inserted into the crank cavity, wherein a portion of the pedal that is coupled to the crank arm extends through the vertical groove and is positioned outside of the crank cavity;
a lateral support;
a wheel support coupled to the lateral support, the lateral support configured to separate the wheel support from the crank receiver, and the wheel support configured to immobilize a front tire of the bicycle that has its crank arm received in the crank receiver; and
a mounting plate coupled to the crank receiver, wherein the mounting plate comprises a first mounting surface, a second mounting surface, and a central longitudinal axis, wherein the first mounting surface and the second mounting surface are positioned on opposite sides of the central longitudinal axis, wherein the first mounting surface is angled between approximately 0.1 to 30 degrees below the central longitudinal axis, wherein the second mounting surface is angled between approximately 0.1 to 30 degrees below the central longitudinal axis, and wherein the crank receiver is coupled to the first mounting surface so that the angle of the first mounting surface is imparted to the lateral support, to the wheel support, and to the crank receiver.
