1. A blood treatment system comprising:
a blood treatment machine comprising a substitution pump and corresponding fluid line, and a further component;
a user interface;
a first sensor configured to detect a presence or an absence of the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line of the blood treatment machine;
a second sensor configured to detect a presence or an absence of the further component of the blood treatment machine;
a processor in communication with the user interface and the first and second sensors, the processor being configured to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from the first sensor, information associated with the presence or the absence of the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line and determining whether the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line are installed in the blood treatment machine;
if the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line are determined not to be installed in the blood treatment machine, eliminating from a set of instructions at least one instruction pertaining to an online modality requiring the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line, and if the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line are determined to be installed in the blood treatment machine, eliminating from the set of instructions at least one instruction pertaining to an offline modality not requiring the substitution pump and corresponding fluid line;
receiving, from the second sensor, information associated with the presence or the absence of the further component and determining whether the further component is installed in the blood treatment machine;
if the further component is determined not to be installed in the blood treatment machine, eliminating from the set of instructions at least one instruction pertaining to a modality requiring the further component, and if the further component is determined to be installed in the blood treatment machine, eliminating from the set of instructions at least one instruction pertaining to a modality not requiring the further component; and
presenting the set of instructions on the user interface, wherein the set of instructions pertains to a plurality of possible modalities, wherein the plurality of possible modalities includes hemodialysis (HD), hemofiltration (HF), and hemodiafiltration (HDF).
