1. A method for tensioning a soft tissue defect, comprising:
providing a first medical device, the first medical device comprising:
an elongate body comprising:
a strap at a proximal end of the elongate body,
a leader at a distal end of the elongate body, the leader comprising a loop formed from a distal portion of the leader, wherein the leader has a lower bending stiffness than the strap, and
a transition section joining the strap to the leader, wherein the stiffness of the transition section gradually decreases from the strap to the leader; and
a lock-head disposed at the proximal end of the strap, the lock-head comprising an aperture for receiving the distal end of the strap;
placing the distal end of the first medical device through a first hole on a first side of the soft tissue defect and into a body cavity;
pulling the leader of the first medical device through a second hole in the soft tissue on a second side of the soft tissue defect opposite the first side;
pulling the leader of the first medical device through the first hole;
passing the leader through the lock-head; and
tightening the first medical device by translating the strap a distance through the lock-head in a forward direction, wherein the lock-head prevents translational movement of the strap in a direction opposite the forward direction.
