1. A method of operating an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) node in a wireless communication network, the IAB node being connected to a first parent IAB node via a first backhaul link, the method comprising:
communicating with one or more child nodes based on a downlink timing, the downlink timing being based on:
one or more values of a first timing parameter, the values of the first timing parameter being indicated by corresponding first timing indicators received from the first parent IAB node; and
one or more previous updates of second timing values of a second timing parameter, the second timing values of the second timing parameter being indicated by corresponding second timing indicators received from the first parent IAB node; and
the downlink timing being based on a smoothing function that limits changes to the downlink timing below a threshold, the smoothing function being based on the one or more values of the first timing parameter and the second timing values.
