1. A method applied in a communication device, comprising:
receiving a first message, wherein the first message is from a first network device;
in response to the first message, maintaining a first common data packet numbering/reordering function to process data transmitted between a second network device and the communication device and to process data transmitted between the first network device and the communication device, and adding a second ciphering/deciphering function, wherein the second ciphering/deciphering function is associated with the second network device, wherein the second ciphering/deciphering function is separate from a first ciphering/deciphering function associated with the first network device; and
sending a second message to the second network device.
