1. An image processing apparatus comprising:
an image obtainer configured to obtain, from an imaging unit including a color filter unit, an image captured by the imaging unit, the color filter unit including of a plurality of color filters whose colors are different from each other, the image including a plurality of pixels arranged to respectively correspond to the color filters, each of the plurality of pixels having a corresponding color luminance value;
an illumination-level determiner configured to:
measure an illumination level around the imaging unit; and
determine whether the measured illumination level around the camera is lower than or equal to a predetermined threshold illumination level; and
an image corrector configured to perform, for the image, a corrected-image generation task of ascertaining, for each pixel of a selected pixel region included in the image, luminance-value ratios of the respective colors of the color filters in accordance with (i) the color luminance value of the corresponding pixel of the selected pixel region, and (ii) ascertainment data items predetermined for the respective colors if it is determined that the measured illumination level around the imaging unit is lower than or equal to the predetermined threshold illumination level,
the ascertainment data item, predetermined for each of the colors, representing a corresponding color luminance-value ratio at any pixel in the selected pixel region included in the image with respect to a predetermined peak luminance value of the corresponding one of the colors in the selected pixel region; and
generate a corrected image in accordance with the luminance-value ratios of the respective colors ascertained for each pixel of the selected pixel region.
