1. A processing-in-memory (PIM) system comprising:
a PIM device configured to, based on an operation mode, perform a memory access operation or a multiplication/accumulation (MAC) operation;
a host configured to generate a request and a mode definition signal; and
a PIM controller configured to receive the request and the mode definition signal from the host and to generate a command corresponding to the request transferred from the host to the PIM controller,
wherein the request transferred from the host to the PIM controller is a request for the memory access operation of the PIM device or a request for the MAC operation of the PIM device, and
wherein the mode definition signal transferred from the host to the PIM controller includes information on whether the request transferred from the host to the PIM controller is the request for the memory access operation of the PIM device or the request for the MAC operation of the PIM device.
