1. An assembly comprising:
a light source;
a cell comprising:
an inlet configured to receive a sample in fluid form,
wherein the light source is configured to provide illuminating light directly to the cell,
a cavity, in fluid communication with the inlet, configured to receive and contain the sample in fluid form while transmitting the illuminating light,
wherein the inlet and the cavity are aligned along a single axis, and
an outlet, in fluid communication with the cavity, configured to output the sample in fluid form after the sample in fluid form is illuminated by the illuminating light;
an optical assembly that includes an optical filter; and
a sensor, coupled to the optical filter, configured to selectively detect signal light propagated through the optical filter, wherein the signal light is emitted by the sample in fluid form while the sample in fluid form is in the cavity.
