1. A method, comprising:
transmitting, by a processing system of a user equipment including a processor, sounding reference signals (SRS) to a network equipment, wherein the SRS are transmitted at a particular periodicity:
based on the transmitting, obtaining, by the processing system, first scheduling parameters from the network equipment to be used for data transmissions over a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH);
after the obtaining, sending, by the processing system, data to the network equipment over the PUSCH; and
after the sending, receiving, by the processing system, second scheduling parameters from the network equipment, wherein the second scheduling parameters are derived by the network equipment based on signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) associated with the sending of the data, wherein the second scheduling parameters comprise a transmission rank indicator, and wherein the receiving the second scheduling parameters enables a periodicity of transmission of subsequent SRS to be extended without impacting latency.
