1. A method for transmitting consistency information for verifying distributed database replicas, the method comprising:
dividing a data set into a plurality of sections based on a partitioning function;
calculating a hash value for each section using a hash function;
generating a check vector by concatenating the hash values of the sections;
compressing the check vector by calculating a syndrome using a linear code, wherein the syndrome is calculated as s=H×ut, where H is a parity check matrix and u is the check vector, the compression being performed using a Slepian-Wolf encoding method; and
transmitting the compressed check vector and the syndrome to a receiver unit over a communication channel to enable the receiver unit to identify inconsistencies between the distributed database replicas based on the syndrome and local side information.
