1. A system comprising:
a first electrical path between a utility grid and a load, the first electrical path comprising a first switch;
a second electrical path between the utility grid and the load, the second electrical path comprising:
a bidirectional inverter;
a unidirectional inverter that is coupled between the bidirectional inverter and the load;
an energy storage device that is configured to supply power to the load and to supply power to the utility grid and coupled between the bidirectional inverter and the unidirectional inverter; and
a second switch that is coupled between the unidirectional inverter and the load; and
a controller configured to control at least the bidirectional inverter, the first switch, and the second switch to operate the system in at least a first mode in which power is supplied to the load from the utility grid via the first electrical path while power is supplied to the utility grid from the energy storage device via the bidirectional inverter via a portion of the second electrical path.
