1. A method comprising:
presenting, by at least one processor, a graphical user interface to a first player showing at least a first challenge;
receiving, by the at least one processor, from a first mobile device, the first challenge by the first player, wherein the first challenge identifies a penalty and a second mobile device of a second player against whom to place the first challenge, wherein the penalty is either a monetary penalty or a point-based penalty;
identifying, by the at least one processor, the first challenge to the second player;
receiving, by the at least one processor, a first acceptance of the first challenge from the second mobile device of the second player;
forming, by the at least one processor, a first game over a communication network between the first mobile device of the first player and the second mobile device of the second player based on the first challenge;
imposing, by the at least one processor, the penalty on a losing player of the first challenge in response to determining an outcome of the first game; and
determining, by the at least one processor, a location of the first mobile device during the first challenge to allow an interface on the first mobile device to switch between monetary wagering or points wagering in response to the location determination of the first mobile device.
