1. An ultrasound imaging system comprising:
an ultrasound probe configured to receive ultrasound signals for generating a sequence of ultrasound images; and
a processor configured to:
apply a time-varying color map for representing an intensity of the ultrasound signals in the sequence, wherein the time-varying color map comprises a two-dimensional (2D) color map that associates a given intensity of an ultrasound signal to both of a brightness value on one axis and a hue value on a second axis that changes over time; and
generate individual ultrasound images of the sequence for display by assigning, in accordance with the time-varying color map, different brightness or hue values to pixels representing a same intensity ultrasound signals acquired at different points in time; and
a display configured to display the 2D color map and at least one of the individual ultrasound images.
