1. An image processing apparatus comprising:
a first acquisition unit configured to acquire a first image obtained by scanning a first printed material printed based on print data;
a second acquisition unit configured to acquire, as a composition candidate, one or more second images obtained by scanning a second printed material printed based on the print data;
a first inspection unit configured to inspect the one or more second images;
a removal unit configured to remove, from the composition candidate, the second image which is determined to be not suitable for the composition candidate among the inspected one or more second images; and
a generation unit configured to composite the first image and the second image that the removal unit does not remove from the composition candidate to generate a reference image being serving as a reference of inspection.
