1. A fingerprint scanner unit comprising in combination:
a housing;
a sensor mounted on the housing adapted to receive a user's finger and configured to generate a plurality of electrical signals representative of a user's fingerprint;
a data processing unit disposed within the housing and coupled to the sensor and receiving the plurality of electrical signals and configured to generate digital data corresponding to the user's fingerprint;
a battery disposed within the housing providing electrical power to the data processing unit; and
a wireless communication module disposed within the housing and coupled to the data processing unit and receiving the digital data corresponding to the user's fingerprint, the wireless communication module configured to communicate wirelessly with a receiving device to securely exchange digital data corresponding to the user's fingerprint between the fingerprint scanner unit and the receiving device.
