1. A system for handling a plurality of parcels, the system comprising:
a mobile depot facility for storage and provision of the plurality of parcels within a planned handover period at one location as a joint optimized handover point for handover of the plurality of parcels to the respective recipients and/or by depositors of the plurality of parcels, the mobile depot facility having a center aisle and at least one transport path, the center aisle having shelves arranged on both sides thereof, and a plurality of storage positions;
an assignment system in communication with the mobile depot facility, the assignment system assigning parcel identification characteristics to the storage positions; and
at least one transport unit being moveable along the at least one transport path, the transport unit having a height-adjustable transfer platform equipped with a conveyor belt, the conveyor belt transferring the plurality of parcels onto the transfer platform and/or from the transfer platform to the storage positions, the transport unit supporting the removal of parcels from a consignment stream to storage positions, in particular on the basis of parcel identification characteristics, the transport unit transporting the parcels from the consignment stream into storage positions of the mobile depot facility, wherein the transport of the parcels by the transport unit within the mobile depot facility can be controlled taking into account the storage positions assigned to the respective parcels on the basis of the parcel identification characteristics.
