1. A method implemented at a client device, the method comprising:
providing, to a first tile server and from the client device, a request for a plurality of tiles that have been previously identified;
in response to failing to receive the plurality of tiles from the first tile server within a predetermined time period from the request for the plurality of tiles:
causing the client device to transmit a plurality of requests for the plurality of tiles, each request of the plurality of requests being transmitted to at least one of a plurality of tile servers, each request of the plurality of requests identifying the plurality of tiles that have been previously identified;
receiving the plurality of tiles from a second tile server from among the plurality of tile servers; and
providing for display, at the client device, of a visual representation of the plurality of tiles.
