1. A method for tracking open blocks in a memory device of a memory sub-system, the method comprising:
partitioning, by a memory sub-system controller, a storage region in the memory device into a plurality of channels;
identifying one or more open blocks from a plurality of active zones associated with the plurality of channels and ready for a write operation; and
sending, by the memory sub-system controller, an open block message to a local media controller in the memory device, wherein the open block message comprises identifying information identifying the one or more open blocks in one or more of the plurality of active zones.
