1. A vehicle control system comprising:
a vehicle including a vehicle controller and an electric drive motor configured to propel a tractive element; and
a portable user device including a user interface and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by a processor of the portable user device, cause the processor to:
perform a verification process to verify that the portable user device has access to the vehicle;
wirelessly connect to the vehicle via a wireless transceiver of the portable user device in response to the portable user device being verified;
display a control interface for the vehicle on the user interface of the portable user device in response to connecting to the vehicle;
receive an input through the control interface regarding operation of the electric drive motor; and
provide a command to the vehicle controller based on the input to facilitate remote operation of the electric drive motor.
