1. A wear resistant component comprising:
a matrix portion made of metal; and
a core embedded in the matrix portion, the core being higher in hardness than the matrix portion, wherein:
the core has a shape that follows a shape of at least a portion of a surface of the matrix portion, and the core includes:
a body portion, and
a bar member protruding from the body portion; and
the body portion is located inside the matrix portion so as not to be exposed from the surface of the matrix portion.
