1. A primed cell, wherein the primed cell comprises a cardiac cell or progenitor thereof contacted with a composition comprising: (i) a human C-terminal connective tissue growth factor D4 (CTGF-D4) peptide having at least 95% amino acid sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:2 or SEQ ID NO:3; and (ii) one or more of: insulin comprising polypeptides having at least 95% amino acid sequence identity to any one of SEQ ID NOs:5-7 and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) having at least 95% amino acid sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:8.
