1. A method for imparting anti-redeposition properties to a laundry detergent composition by adding from about 0.25 to about 2 wt. % (based on the total weight of the composition) of a functionalized polymer to said detergent, wherein said laundry detergent composition comprises at least one surfactant, and wherein said functionalized polymer is prepared by reacting:
i) a styrene maleic anhydride copolymer;
ii) a poly(oxyalkylene) monoamine; and optionally
iii) a poly(oxyalkylene) diol;
wherein said styrene maleic anhydride copolymer (i) has a styrene: maleic anhydride mole ratio of 2:1.
