1. A laundry composition and/or fabric softening agent comprising an anionic, cationic, nonionic, or amphoteric detergent and one or more water soluble 1,3:1,4-β-D-glucans derived from oats, barley or a combination thereof, wherein
the anionic detergent is selected from the group consisting of soap, Sodium Lauryl ethyl Sulphate, MIPA laureth sulphate, Alfa Olefin Sulphonate, and Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate;
the cationic detergent is selected from the group consisting of Esterquats, and Alkyl Quaternary Ammonium salts;
the nonionic detergent is selected from the group consisting of Alkyl Polyglucoside, Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate, and Glucamides;
the amphoteric detergent is selected from the group consisting of Cocamidepropyl Betaine, Amine Oxide, and Amphoacetate; and
the one or more water soluble 1,3:1,4-β-D-glucans have a weight average molecular weight of at least 800,000 Daltons.
