1. A filter seal assembly for use with a canister filter system, the filter seal assembly comprising:
an annular body defining an outer diameter, a thickness, and a seal forming central hole defining a central axis, and configured via a composition of the annular body and relative dimensioning among the outer diameter, the thickness, and the central hole, to maintain a water-tight seal with a pedestal in the canister filter system extending through the central hole;
the filter seal assembly including the pedestal extending through the central hole and in contact with the annular body so as to form the water-tight seal, and the pedestal including a tab configured to engage in a locking slot of a center tube of a filter element in the canister filter system;
the annular body defining an outer diameter and a hole diameter, and a ratio of the outer diameter to the hole diameter is from 1.5 to 3.0;
the annular body including a first axial side, a second axial side, an outer perimetric edge surface, a first transition surface transitioning from the outer perimetric edge surface to the first axial side, and a seal forming second transition surface transitioning from the outer perimetric edge surface to the second axial side;
the first axial side is continuously planar circumferentially around the central axis and radially outward from the central hole to the first transition surface, and extends uninterrupted from the central hole to the first transition surface; and
the first transition surface defining a first radius of curvature in a plane including the central axis and the second transition surface defining a second radius of curvature in the plane including the central axis, and the second radius of curvature is larger than the first radius of curvature; and
a canister in contact with the second transition surface so as to form a second, fluid tight seal.
