1. A resistance training apparatus comprising:
a housing coupled to an exercise apparatus, wherein the housing supports the following components:
one or more sensors,
a conductor positioned to rotate around a first axis,
a guide rail assembly configured to guide a magnet holding assembly along a second axis, wherein the guide rail assembly is positioned parallel to a first surface of the conductor on only a first side of the conductor, wherein the first surface of the conductor is perpendicular to the first axis, wherein the magnet holding assembly comprises a first magnet positioned proximate to the first side of the conductor,
a drive motor configured to move the magnet holding assembly along a plurality of positions between a first position to a second position along the second axis, wherein a resistance is generated and adjusted by the rotation of the conductor and a position of the first magnet relative to the conductor as the magnetic holding assembly moves along the second axis;
wherein the components are configured to be mounted to a side wall of the housing;
and a controller communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors, drive motor, and a computing system, wherein the controller receives one or more data elements from the one or more sensors, sends the one or more data elements to a computing device to determine the resistance signal and identify the relative position of the guide rail assembly and first magnet to the conductor, and sends position data to the drive motor.
