An absorbent pad for a wound dressing, the pad having a plurality of fenestrations therein, wherein the fenestrations are arranged in a pattern about a central point, wherein the pattern comprises a plurality of arc-shaped fenestrations located on and having symmetry about a cardinal axis and a plurality of arc-shaped fenestrations located on and having symmetry about an intercardinal axis, the cardinal and intercardinal axes crossing at the central point.
