1. A method for predicting a loading of an absorbent article, the method comprising:
obtaining, from a photodetector, a measurement of transmitted light reflected from the absorbent article;
determining, from the measurement of transmitted light, a presence of bodily exudate in the absorbent article;
obtaining, from an inertial sensor, a time series of data including an inertial measurement for each time period of a set of time periods;
determining, in real-time from the time series of data, an activity state of an infant wearing the absorbent article, wherein the activity state comprises being awake or being asleep; and
determining, based on the presence of bodily exudate and the activity state, a degree of fullness of the absorbent article.
