18. An agricultural system, comprising:
at least one processor; and
a memory that stores computer executable instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform steps, comprising:
automatically detecting a set of forces acting on a row unit while operating the row unit in a field;
generating a soil strength metric with a soil strength value based on the detected set of forces acting on the row unit; and
controlling a soil engaging element on the row unit based on the soil strength value.
