1. An apparatus that generates a high-dynamic-range image by setting an imaging condition for each of a plurality of regions that constitute an image, the apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more memories storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
set an exposure condition for each of the plurality of regions, the exposure condition being set for each of the plurality of regions based on an image capturing mode of the apparatus, the image capturing mode including a mode for reducing an exposure difference between adjacent regions of the plurality of regions; and
capture an image in accordance with the imaging condition and the exposure condition set for each of the plurality of regions,
wherein the exposure condition for each of the plurality of regions is calculated based on a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value out of the exposure condition and an allowable maximum exposure difference.
