1. A lead-acid battery comprising a plurality of positive battery grid plates each having a frame with a top, a first side, a second side, and a bottom, and a plurality of grid wires interconnected within each of the frames to create interstices therebetween, one or more first segments of one or more of the plurality of the grid wires having a first microstructure with a primary deformation of a first magnitude, one or more second segments of one or more of the plurality of grid wires having a second microstructure, different from the first microstructure, with a secondary deformation of a second magnitude, with the one or more first segments and the one or more second segments being at separate locations, and the one or more first segments having a greater corrosion resistance than the one or more second segments.
