1. A method of tomographic image reconstruction, comprising:
providing projection data generated from an x-ray computerized tomography system as input to an iterative image reconstruction algorithm resident on a digital processing device; and
running the algorithm, wherein:
the projection data are a product of an x-ray tomographic projection system of the tomography system having a field of view (FOV);
the running of the algorithm comprises retrieving a priori system information (APSI) from a computer-accessible storage medium and utilizing the retrieved APSI;
the APSI comprises point spread functions (PSFs) of all voxels in a voxelization of the field of view;
each retrieved PSF is retrieved in the form of a vector of parameters; and
the utilizing of the APSI comprises decompressing each retrieved vector of parameters so as to generate a discretized point spread function to form a tomographic image reconstruction of the projection data generated from the x-ray computerized tomography system.
