1. A method of closing an opening in a heart wall comprising:
loading a medical device for closing an opening in a heart wall between a right atrium and a left atrium onto a delivery system, the medical device comprising a plug body, an interior lumen along a longitudinal axis of the plug body, and a seal located within the interior lumen;
advancing the delivery system through a vasculature to a deployment location at the opening in the heart wall between the right atrium and the left atrium;
implanting the plug body of the medical device within the opening;
advancing a medical tool through the vasculature after the step of implanting the plug body;
piercing the seal of the implanted medical device with the medical tool;
advancing the medical tool through the seal of the implanted medical device to access a left side of a heart; and
using the medical tool for treatment of the left side of the heart.
