1. A liquid crystal display device, comprising:
a panel having a first substrate and a second substrate opposite the first substrate, the panel having a pixel region containing a plurality of pixel electrodes and a plurality of thin film transistors forming an active matrix, the first substrate including the plurality of thin film transistors on a first surface facing the second substrate, the second substrate not including a common electrode and not including a scanning electrode, the panel having a plurality of color filters;
a peripheral portion on the first surface of the first substrate, the peripheral portion being that part of the first substrate which surrounds the pixel region, at least a portion of which peripheral portion does not overlap with the second substrate in a plan view and thereby has a side of the first substrate which protrudes from under the second substrate and has a group of terminals where a tape substrate is bonded via an anisotropy conductive film, the first substrate having second, third, and fourth sides, the third side being opposite the first side of the first substrate;
a sealing member enclosing a liquid crystal material and bonding the first substrate to the second substrate, the sealing member extending around a periphery of the pixel region as a closed frame shape without use of a plug and without use of column spacers, and the sealing member being insulating along the entire length of at least three of the sides of the periphery of the pixel region;
at least a wiring line disposed on the first substrate crossing the sealing member from outside the sealing member to inside the sealing member in a portion where the sealing member is insulating, the wiring line electrically connected to a signal driving circuit,
wherein in the vicinity of a corner region where two perpendicular sides of the first substrate meet, in the plan view, a first portion of the sealing member has a first central line extending in the direction of the first portion and a second portion of the sealing member has a second central line extending in the direction of the second portion, the first and second portions of the sealing member being perpendicular to each other and being connected by a curved portion of the sealing member along a curved central line connecting the first central line and the second central line at a corner of the sealing member, wherein the radius of curvature of the curved central line of the sealing member in the vicinity of the corner region after bonding is no less than 0.3 mm and no more than 1.5 mm.
