1. A mounting device, comprising:
a wall mounting portion;
a display mounting portion configured to carry an electronic display;
an assembly coupled to the wall mounting portion and the display mounting portion, the assembly including an actuator operable to move the display mounting portion vertically when the wall mounting portion is coupled to a vertical wall; and
an electronic system communicatively coupled to the actuator and programmed to:
store a predetermined threshold,
monitor operation of the actuator,
determine that the mounting device or the electronic display has contacted an obstruction based on the operation of the actuator, wherein the electronic system is programmed to determine a current used by the actuator is higher than the predetermined threshold indicating at least one of the mounting device or the electronic display has contacted the obstruction, and
in response to determining the mounting device or the electronic display has contacted the obstruction, control the actuator to stop movement of the mounting device or the electronic display toward the obstruction.
