1. A control system for a surgical system, the control system comprising:
an imaging system comprising:
an emitter configured to emit multispectral electromagnetic radiation (EMR); and
an image sensor configured to detect a reflected portion of the emitted EMR that has been reflected by airborne particulates; and
a control circuit coupled to the imaging system, the control circuit configured to:
determine a three-dimensional boundary of a particulate cloud containing the airborne particulates based on the reflected portion of the emitted EMR reflected by the airborne particulates detected by the image sensor;
track movement of the three-dimensional boundary of the particulate cloud over time;
calculate a movement vector based on the tracked movement; and
adjust control parameters of the surgical system based on the calculated movement vector.
