1. A device to remove a plurality of valve leaflets in a single cutting operation, comprising:
an outer electrode defined by a zig-zag shaped leading edge defining a plurality of proximally facing tips to be received within the cusps of a cardiac valve, the outer electrode being configured to be disposed radially outwardly with respect to leaflets of the cardiac valve, wherein each proximally facing tip is coupled to a respective distally extending lead tube, each said lead tube including a guidewire slidably disposed therein, each said guidewire being configured to be advanced along a proximal direction out of a proximally-facing opening of each lead tube; and
an inner electrode disposed concentrically within the outer electrode, the inner electrode being defined by a zig-zag shaped leading edge complementing the zig zag shape of the leading edge of the outer electrode, the inner electrode defining a plurality of proximally facing tips, the inner electrode being configured to be received within an orifice of the cardiac valve radially inwardly with respect to the cardiac valve leaflets;
wherein the inner electrode can be rotated about a central axis with respect to the outer electrode, and further wherein, in a first mode of operation, a bipolar cutting circuit is completed by passing electrical current from one of the inner electrode and the outer electrode to the other of the inner electrode and the outer electrode.
