1. A method of positioning an imaging system, comprising:
acquiring tracking information of an imaging system tracking device associated with the imaging system;
acquiring tracking information of a subject tracking device attached to a subject;
determining a first pose of the imaging system relative to the subject tracking device based on the tracking of both the acquired tracking information of the imaging system tracking device and the acquired tracking information of the subject tracking device;
recalling a geometry and size of a portion of the subject based upon pre-acquired image data of the subject and recalling a tracked pose of at least a selected portion of a procedure to determine a region-of-interest (ROI) at which image data is selected to be acquired;
determining a second pose of the imaging system to acquire the image data at the ROI;
determining a path to move the imaging system from the determined first pose to the determined second pose; and
outputting the determined path to move the imaging system.
