1. A method for decoding a bitstream, the method comprising:
receiving the bitstream comprising an encoded audio signal data associated with three degrees of freedom (3DoF) audio rendering and metadata associated with six degrees of freedom (6DoF) audio rendering,
decoding the encoded audio signal data associated with 3DoF to obtain a 3DoF audio signal; and
rendering the 3DoF audio signal to generate a sound field based on one of 3DoF audio rendering or 6DoF audio rendering, wherein the 6DoF audio rendering generates 6DoF audio signal data based on the 3DoF audio signal and the metadata associated with 6DoF,
wherein the 3DoF audio rendering comprises:
ignoring the metadata associated with 6DoF; and
performing the 3DoF audio rendering using the 3DoF audio signals wherein the 6DoF audio rendering comprises:
restoring original audio signals x* of the one or more audio sources from the 3DoF audio signal, using an inverse transform function A−1; and
performing the 6DoF audio rendering using the restored original audio signals x* and the metadata associated with 6DoF.
