1. A light fixture for use in a modular lighting system that is adapted to be installed in an environment for illuminating the environment, the light fixture configured to be connected to and to retain one or more light-emitting diode (LED) modules of the modular lighting system, the light fixture comprising:
a mounting assembly adapted to engage a desired surface in the environment; and
a connection assembly configured to mechanically and electrically connect the mounting assembly to one or more light-emitting diode (LED) modules of the modular lighting system, the connection assembly comprising:
a base coupled to the mounting assembly such that the base extends outward from the mounting assembly;
first and second electrical connectors extending outward from the base, wherein the first electrical connector extends outward along a first axis and the second electrical connector extends outward along a second axis different from the first axis; and
a defined recess between the first and second electrical connectors, the recess sized to receive a portion of a first LED module of the one or more LED modules to mechanically and electrically connect the first LED module to the mounting assembly.
