1. A method of making a lubricant for use in a hopper fed system, comprising:
combining a silane mixture with a hydrophilic fiber, the fiber having hydroxyl groups disposed on a surface of the fiber and a width to length aspect ratio of at least one to greater than one, and the silane mixture comprising an inert carrier, wherein the combining results in silane polymerizing to the surface of the fiber by combining with hydroxyl groups; and
removing the inert carrier from the fiber resulting in a plurality of hydrophobic particles being deposited on the surface of the fiber at a distance d1 from each other, thereby producing an amphiphobic fiber exhibiting both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties.
