1. A bio-electrochemical system, comprising:
at least one reactor chamber consisting of:
one or more hydraulic distribution elements and one or more fluid-collection elements;
a rack disposed within the reactor chamber and comprising one or more securing mechanisms, wherein one of the one or more securing mechanisms comprises a plurality of slotted grooves; and
a plurality of working electrodes and a plurality of counter electrodes in the reactor chamber, each of the working and counter electrodes being removable and (i) each individually and vertically positioned parallel to an input of wastewater such that the wastewater flows vertically over each electrode, and (ii) each individually disposed in one of the plurality of slotted grooves in the rack to secure the electrodes.
