1. An implantable system, comprising:
a first leadless pacemaker (LP) configured to be implanted in a first cardiac chamber;
a second LP configured to be implanted in a second cardiac chamber that differs from the first cardiac chamber;
the first LP including
first electrodes;
a first sensing circuit configured to sense a first electrogram (EGM);
a first pulse generator configured to produce pacing pulses that are intended to capture the first cardiac chamber;
wherein the same first electrodes of the first LP are used to deliver the pacing pulses produced by the first pulse generator to the first cardiac chamber and by the first sensing circuit to sense the first EGM;
a memory that stores one or more morphology templates including a paced activation morphology template corresponding to far-field signal components expected to be present in the first EGM sensed by the first LP when one of the pacing pulses delivered by the second LP captures the second cardiac chamber; and
at least one of a first processor or a first controller configured to
compare a morphology of a portion of the first EGM sensed by the first LP to the paced activation morphology template to thereby determine whether a match therebetween is detected;
determine that capture of the second cardiac chamber occurred responsive to the one of the pacing pulses delivered by the second LP to the second cardiac chamber, based on the match being detected between the morphology of the portion of the first EGM sensed by the first LP and the paced activation morphology template;
determine that capture of the second cardiac chamber failed to occur responsive to the one of the pacing pulses delivered by the second LP to the second cardiac chamber, based on the match failing to be detected between the morphology of the portion of the first EGM sensed by the first LP and the paced activation morphology template; and
cause the first LP to send a message to the second LP to inform the second LP that the capture of the second cardiac chamber failed or to instruct the second LP to increase a voltage of one or more further pacing pulses that is/are to be delivered to the second cardiac chamber, in response to determining that capture of the second cardiac chamber failed to occur responsive to the pacing pulse delivered by the second LP to the second cardiac chamber;
the second LP including
second electrodes;
a second sensing circuit configured to sense a second EGM; and
a second pulse generator configured to produce pacing pulses that are intended to capture the second cardiac chamber; and
at least one of a second processor or a second controller
wherein the same second electrodes of the second LP are used to deliver the pacing pulses produced by the second pulse generator to the second cardiac chamber and by the second sensing circuit to sense the second EGM;
wherein the at least one of the second processor or the second controller, of the second LP, is configured to cause delivery of one or more further pacing pulses to the second cardiac chamber, in response to receiving the message from the first LP, such that the one or more further pacing pulses each have a greater voltage than the pacing pulse delivered by the second LP that failed to cause capture of the second cardiac chamber.
