1. A disposable absorbent article comprising:
a chassis including a topsheet and a backsheet; and
an absorbent core located between the topsheet and the backsheet; wherein the absorbent core comprises a substrate layer;
a first discontinuous layer of absorbent material deposited on the substrate layer;
a cover layer;
a second discontinuous layer of absorbent material deposited on the cover layer,
wherein the substrate layer and the cover layer provide cavities to immobilize the absorbent material; and
wherein the second discontinuous layer of absorbent material comprises second openings, wherein the first discontinuous layer of absorbent material comprises first openings, and wherein the first and second layers of absorbent material are combined together such that the first openings are offset from the second openings.
