1. A method for capability transfer by a user equipment (UE) in a cellular network, the method comprising:
in a first mode, attempting to transmit capability messages representing successively smaller subsets of a set of carrier aggregation (CA) combinations from the UE to a base station of a serving cell of the cellular network until either a capability message is successfully received by the base station or a first threshold number of unsuccessful attempts to transmit a capability message has been performed.
