1. A method of operating a computer system, comprising:
receiving an indication of a plurality of slots offered by a media content provider, each slot being associated with an advertisement placement opportunity of a plurality of advertisement placement opportunities and each slot being assigned at least one advertisement;
augmenting each slot of the plurality of slots to include metadata;
receiving an indication of a log, the log indicating media content provided by the media content provider and at least one advertisement placement opportunity of the plurality of advertisement placement opportunities;
receiving an indication of a first playlist and a second playlist, each playlist including a subset of the plurality of slots;
causing a broadcast stream to be generated by a broadcast play out provider based on the first playlist; and
causing an addressable stream to be generated by an addressable play out provider based on the second playlist, such that, to generate the addressable stream, the addressable play out provider is able to:
use the second playlist to identify additional metadata in the second playlist for a first slot of the plurality of slots,
identify a first advertisement assigned to the first slot of the plurality of slots,
determine whether the first advertisement is permitted to be replaced based on the additional metadata, and
based on the determining: combine the first slot of the plurality of slots with a second slot to which a second advertisement is assigned, and replace the first advertisement and the second advertisement with a third advertisement.
