1. A method for managing security of a distributed system, the method comprising:
identifying an occurrence of an event impacting a reputation ascribed to a data processing system of data processing systems of the distributed system, the reputation quantifying a likelihood of the data processing system being subject to compromise;
generating an update for the reputation based on the occurrence of the event;
revising a hierarchy based on the update, the hierarchy being based, at least in part, on the reputation and indicates one or more links representing communication channels between the data processing systems;
refreshing security data based on the revised hierarchy;
using the refreshed security data to validate authority of the data processing systems; and
providing computer implemented services based on the validated authority.
