1. A device for detecting errors in a computer network, wherein the computer network comprises a coupling element which connects at least two network subscribers of the computer network to each other, the coupling element comprises a memory for an actual configuration of the coupling element, and the coupling element forwards or discards data packets depending on the actual configuration, the device comprising:
a target configuration for the coupling element, wherein the device is configured:
to compare the actual configuration with the target configuration,
to send a predetermined number of data packets via the coupling element to a network subscriber at a predetermined time,
to determine a number of data packets discarded by the coupling element, and
to compare the number of data packets sent to the network subscriber with the number of data packets discarded by the coupling element.
